Tenninkyo Gorge (天人峡) is a dramatic valley carved by the Chubetsu River in Daisetsuzan National Park. The gorge is famous for its towering cliffs, lush forests, and spectacular waterfalls, including the 270-meter Hagoromo Falls—one of Hokkaido’s tallest. Well-maintained trails lead visitors through the gorge, offering views of waterfalls, mossy rocks, and seasonal wildflowers.
The main highlight is Hagoromo Falls, a multi-tiered waterfall cascading down the cliffs. The gorge is also home to Shikishima Falls and several smaller cascades. In spring and summer, the area is lush and green, while autumn brings brilliant foliage. Tenninkyo Onsen, located at the entrance, offers hot spring baths with mountain views—perfect after a hike.
