Hikone Castle

Overview

Hikone Castle, located in Shiga Prefecture on the shores of Lake Biwa, is one of only five castles in Japan designated as a National Treasure. Built in the early 17th century, the castle retains its original keep (tenshu) and offers stunning views from its hilltop location. Hikone Castle is also known for its charming mascot, "Hikonyan."
